DR. ANDREW MINEAR
Director of Choirs

Orlando Sings!

With appearances across the USA, Dr. Andrew Minear is an active conductor, music educator, and choir leader. His conducting experience includes children’s, church, community, middle school, high school, collegiate, and professional choral settings. Dr. Minear is the Director of Choirs at Lake Buena Vista High School in Orlando and the Artistic and Executive Director of Orlando Sings. He previously served as the Director of Choral Activities at the University of Alabama where he led the choirs, oversaw the graduate choral conducting program, and taught courses in conducting and choral literature. Earlier, he taught at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando when Cora Bella (SSAA) performed for State, Division, and National Conferences of ACDA.

Recent or upcoming conducting engagements include the National Concert Chorus in Carnegie Hall, the Seoul Oratorio Festival in South Korea, the ACDA Southern Region SSAA Honor Choir, Music and Worship Arts weeks in Lake Junaluska and Montreat, and all-state choirs in seven states. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from Michigan State University and Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music Education degrees from Florida State University.

MARK BURROWS
Director of Children's Ministries
First UMC, Ft. Worth, TX

Mark Burrows is a composer, conductor, and educator whose music is published by many major houses. Mark’s works are featured on numerous state and festival lists, and he receives multiple commissions each year for groups ranging from children’s choirs to adult ensembles to intergenerational festival choirs.

Mark received his undergraduate degree in music education from Southern Methodist University and his graduate degree in conducting from Texas Christian University.
Mark is currently Director of Children’s Ministries at FUMC, Fort Worth. He lives in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife, Nina, and their daughters, Emma and Grace.

CLAUDIA DEW
"Capitol Bells"

Claudia Dew, our handbell clinician, is a rare native Floridian! Originally from Lake City, she has lived in Tallahassee for the past 40 years. A graduate of the Florida State University College of Music, she is a former High School Choral Director. She has previously served in two United Methodist Churches where she directed Chancel Choirs, Youth Choirs, an Adult Ensemble, led the Praise Teams, and developed graded bellchoir programs. Claudia is the Director of Capitol Bells, an advanced, auditioned community bell choir in Tallahassee, They just completed their 12th season together! Performing throughout Tallahassee and surrounding areas, they are always seeking new venues where they can share handbells. Claudia is a member of the Tallahassee Community Chorus, and traveled to the 2019 National ACDA Convention to sing in the premiere performance of Dr. Andre Thomas' Gospel Mass, under his direction.

Claudia and her husband, John, also run an Airbnb (The Dew Drop Inn) in Tallahassee. They have enjoyed meeting guests from all over the United States and several foreign countries.  FAMU & FSU parents - especially parents of music students - are especially welcome!

Together, they have 3 grown children, 3 precious grandsons, and an adorable granddaughter. "Yaya" and "Papa" are living their best lives!

BRIAN HEHN
Director of Liturgical Worship & Discipleship
St. Johns Lutheran Church of Sweet Air
Phoenix, MD

Brian is an inspiring song-leader equally comfortable leading an acapella singing of “It Is Well” as he is drumming and dancing to “Sizohamba Naye”  
 
Experienced using a variety of genres and instrumentations, he has led worship for Baptists, Roman Catholics, United Methodists, Presbyterians, and many more across the U.S. and Canada. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from Wingate University, his Master of Sacred Music from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, and is certified in children’s church music (K-12) by Choristers Guild.

He has articles published on sacred music and congregational song in multiple journals and co-authored the book All Hands In: Drumming the Biblical Narrative, published by Choristers Guild.

While working for The Hymn Society as the Director of The Center for Congregational Song, he is also Director of Liturgical Worship & Discipleship at St. John's Lutheran Church of Sweet Air in Phoenix, Maryland, and adjunct professor of church music at Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina.  Brian lives in Baltimore, Maryland, with his wife Eve, son Jakob, and daughter Clara.
