Grant K. Pulen Music Scholarship Application
For College Students Majoring in Music
The Grant K. Pulen Music Scholarship is an annual award of $2,000 to a full-time student, majoring in music at an accredited college or university. The recipient is chosen by a duly-appointed committee, based upon the application and supporting documents listed below. The winner is announced at the annual Church Music Workshop of the Florida Chapter of The Fellowship. Applicants should make every effort to attend.
Eligibility Requirements
1. An active member of a local church or campus ministry for at least one (1) year, or have attended the summer Church Music Workshop sponsored by the Florida Chapter of The Fellowship of Worship Artists.
2. At least a senior in high school.
3. Accepted in an accredited college or university.
4. Planning to major (freshmen) or currently majoring in music. Current college students are eligible until graduation, on condition that they are full-time students.
5. Preference will be given to students majoring in Church Music.
Required Documents
1. An official transcript from the institution the applicant is currently attending. To qualify as official, the transcript must bear the seal of the institution. The transcript should be submitted directly from the institution, or in a sealed envelope bearing the institution’s name.
2. Completed Online Application Form (see button below).
3. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation, including one from the applicant’s Pastor, Choir Director, or Praise Team Leader.
4. An essay of no less than 500 words, describing how worship and music have played a role in the applicant’s life, and how they are affecting the applicant’s career path and goals.
Scholarship application is submitted using the form linked below. Official College/University Transcripts, Letters of Recommendation, and Applicant’s Essay must be submitted by email ([email protected]) or mailed to Joan FitzGerald, 130 Padgett Pl. S., Lakeland, FL 33809. All information submitted to the Grant K. Pulen Scholarship Committee is held in the strictest of confidence. Information obtained will be destroyed after the Scholarship Committee has made its decision. Deadline for receipt of application and supporting documentation is May 15th.
